We have to say, we are kind of surprised by the news that Caroline Flack and Harry Styles have split up.

The One Direction singer confirmed the reports today, saying that the decision to go their separate ways was a ‘mutual’ one and that he definitely did not dump the Xtra Factor presenter.

Previously, both stars have refused to talk about their relationship publicly, so we can’t help but wonder if the teenager had hit the sauce, when at 1am he tweeted his followers telling them:

“Please know I didn’t ‘dump’ Caroline. This was a mutual decision.”

“She is one of the kindest, sweetest people I know. Please respect that.”

At least now we know that all the media hype and newspaper reports were true and that the pair were in fact dating for a while, as there are very few pictures of them together and for a while we weren’t sure if the whole thing was a publicly scam.

The pair are said to have hooked up at an X Factor party last October and despite facing a lot of hate and negative reactions, especially frome One Direction fans, it was reported that Styles brought his girlfriend home to meet his mum and family last week.

We don’t know how they really felt about the 15 year age gap, but so called insiders said that the 32 year old beauty was a big hit with the clan, when she attended Sunday lunch.

It has been claimed that the pair have now split, because Harry is preparing to go to America with his boyband next week and wants to be able to fully concentrate on cracking the states as well as keeping his legions of potential new female fans interested.

It is reported that the teenager doesn’t want to be tied down, which implies that Flack is perhaps ready to embark on the whole marriage and babies thing.
