Olly Murs: It’s hard to shake X Factor tag
X Factor runner up Olly Murs has revealed that he hopes to produce such a great debut album, that people no longer associate him with the ITV talent show.
Last month, Murs signed a joint record deal between Simon Cowell’s Syco Music and Epic and is planning to release his first album this autumn.
He told Newsbeat:
“We want something that’s going to showcase me as an artist and get rid of the X Factor name as such.”
“The hardest for X Factor stars when they finish the show, is to then get over that X Factor thing,” Murs said.
“Like JLS have done and Alexandra Burke – you wouldn’t necessarily look at them as X Factor.
“You look at them as how great they’ve done. That’s what I’m trying to do now.
“My aim is to get something out as soon as possible but take time with it.
“Obviously, we can’t take time like a couple of years but not just rush songs together.”
