At 9:30pm tonight (September 4) the Brit boys will host ‘My First Time’, a VMA special in the lead-up to the big award ceremony on September 7.

The half hour show will focus on Harry Styles and co’s “first time” at the VMA’s and as newbies they’ll be looking back at some of the most memorable performances from the show’s almost 30 year history including infamous moments like Madonna, Britney andChristina Aguilera’s rendition of ‘Like a Virgin’.

The special will also feature segments with artists including P!nk, Green Day and Taylor Swift who will take a trip down memory lane by watching their first VMA performances and offering veteran advice to One Direction.

We reckon tonight’s show will be the perfect thing to get us in the mood for 1D’s big battle against Justin Bieber for the coveted prize of ‘Best Pop Video’ on September 7. Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend’ goes up against One Direction’s smash hit ‘What Makes You Beautiful’. Other contenders for the prestigious award are fun and Janelle Monae for their track ‘We Are Young’, Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa for the ‘Payphone’ and Rihanna for her Calvin Harris banger ‘We Found Love’ vid.
