The One Direction boys may have a lot of work on their plate right now, but it seems that they are making plenty of time to play also.

The lads are currently in America, rehearsing for their MTV VMA performance tomorrow night but outside their practice sessions they have been hanging out with some of the rich, famous and best known American faces.

This afternoon Zayn Malik and Niall Horan spent some time catching up with fellow teen idol Justin Bieber and the ‘Baby’ hitmaker tweeted the boys, writing:

‘@NiallOfficial @zaynmalik good time fellas. welcome to la’

Horan seems pretty excited about his stay and this week’s event and tweeted:

‘great to be back in LA. VMA’s will be sick! Such a huge line-up. Also proud to say we will be adding a 3rd LA show on our tour next year!’

Zayn is loving the high life too and added:

‘LA is definitely one of my favorite places to stay love this place x’

While his bandmates were rubbing shoulder with Bieber, it seems that Harry Styles was planning a more energetic outing and the 1D hunk shared a picture of his dressing room with five wetsuits.

He added the caption:

‘Surfs up?’

Haz and Liam Payne last went surfing during their trip to Australia earlier this year, so perhaps they are planning to perfect their skills before they return to the UK next week.

Meanwhile, the official One Direction Twitter account shared this photo of Malik and Styles, as they attended their MTV rehearsals today. The caption read:

‘Started rehearsing for VMA’s! hope you all like the performance! x’
