One Direction 2012: Harry Styles says his I Can’t Change tattoo DOESN’T mean he’s gay, it means he wants to stay “grounded”
There’s been a lot of speculation recently about One Direction star Harry Styles’ tattoos, and what they mean to him…
And his latest ink, which reads, “I can’t change” caused a few raised eyebrows, given that those words are in fact among the lyrics of a track by band ‘Rise Against’ in their single ‘Make It Stop’, which tells the harrowing tale of how some homosexual kids are so relentlessly bullied relentlessly over their sexuality, that they commit suicide.
This of course then added fuel to the rumour fire which suggests that Harry may be gay and furthermore, that he’s in love with fellow One Direction singer, Louis Tomlinson.
However, while clarifying the meaning of his tattoo, Harry – who was being interviewed by Close Up’s Mark Sainsbury along with Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and of course, Louis – revealed that it is actually a constant reminder that he needs to be true to who he is, and to stay “grounded”…
And fair enough, it is most likely the easiest thing in the world to get carried away by the sort of success that 1D have enjoyed, however, when talk turned to how some similarly hugely successful musicians have “imploded” at the peak of their fame, Louis said, “I think that’s what drives us to keep grounded.
“You occasionally meet the odd person that you can tell it’s gone to their head, but [yeah] that’s what drives us to remain grounded.”
So there we are, mystery solved Nancy Drew!

Calling someone gay isn’t an insult, you idiot, because being gay isn’t something people should be ashamed of. People like Daniel Radcliffe said that they’re not offended of being called gay, because there’s nothing wrong with being gay. Even if Hazza was actually offended or had replied to this rumours, it only means that he’s scared or that he’s not so certain of his sexuality (which I doubt). If he had nothing to hide, this “rumour” wouldn’t have struck a naked nerve like it APPARENTLY did. This article is bullshit anyway.

I think that having a tattoo like that around your wrist is great refugee if you need to remember who you are. A lot of celebrities, unfortunately, get carried away by fame and it ruins them. I think that being grounded – like One Direction – is what most people look for in a band/singer. It’s what makes them famous and as long as you don’t snap under the pressure it all usually causes, then you’ll be able to make it far. The rumor about Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson is cute, but it’s also really annoying sometimes. Louis has a girlfriend, Liam has a girlfriend, Zayn has a girlfriend, and it’s rumored that Harry has one now too. They’re all happy, so why are some ‘Directioners’ raiding on their parade saying that they’re gay for each other? :/ I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to fantasize about things, but it’s starting to get on the nerves of the boys’ and making it even MORE difficult for them to stay grounded. I think we should all make it easier for the lads and leave it as in they’re all best friends and brothers, yeah?

I love Harry’s tattoos and it should not matter what they say they were his choice and his tattoos, he’s not judging you so why judge him?

okay first of all, Harry doesnt have a girlfriend.
and its not hating if we believe that he could possibly be gay, in no way is saying that someone could possibly be gay/bi/pan is offensive or hating. Gay is not an insult. So saying someone could be gay is not hate.
And Just because I believe that harry could be/is Gay/bi/pan doesnt make me a hater, and it doesnt make me any less of a fan than you are.
Chill. No one is hating on them. He has dated girls in the past. And I totally support gays and more 100 percent. I will love harry the same. I just will need to stop dreaming he will be my husband if he was gay lol.
Him having girlfriends in the past doesn’t mean anything, it takes awhile for some people to know and be completely sure of their sexual orientation. I’ve had boyfriends before and thought i was straight but now i know i’m pansexual
Just because he’s dated girls before doesn’t mean he doesn’t like boys. There’s interesting things called bisexuality and pansexuality. And even if he was 100% straight he probably wouldn’t be your future husband anyway.

People who actually think calling someone gay is an insult, or thinking someone is gay means you’re hating on them, need to grow up. And to be frank, none of you know Harry’s sexuality. You don’t know any of the boy’s sexuality, you don’t know their personal lives. Whether they like boys or girls it shouldn’t matter and it shouldn’t be taken as a bad thing. How about people butt out of their lives and support them no matter what? Oh dear, another plant! The Close Up interview you reference is from NZ in April – Harry didn’t have the tat then (and probably wasn’t even thinking about it), and that quote from Louis was certainly not attributable to a question about Harry’s at-that-point-non-existent tat! Nice try, but he’s gay, sorry teeny boppers!

All I can say is I’m kind of disappointed that somebody who calls themselves “directioner” would assume that it’s “haters” who call Harry gay. There are lot of people who love Harry and 1D very much and they’re simply speculating about whether or not he might be gay – which if it’s true would be totally okay to any REAL fan, just like it would be okay if he’s not. Why do people have to be so narrow minded and always assume that the term “gay” is an insult? – The only people who perceive the word as an insult are homophobes.

Too bad the boys’ interview with Mark was back in April and not any time remotely recent or after he got the tattoo. Nice try but he never said it wasn’t about him being gay.
