Liam Payne managed to catch himself quite the big fish, during a recent fishing expedition!

One Direction are in the middle of their US tour, but last week they enjoyed some down time and the lads decided to fit in a bit of fishing in San Diego.

Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson all tried their hands with the rods, however it was young Liam that came off the luckiest, as he managed to reel himself in his very own shark.

However One Directioners need fear not, because while these tiger sharks can grow to more than 20 foot long, Liam’s was only a baby one and he was even so kind as to release it back into the ocean, after he had gotten a good look.

The X Factor star told the Sun: “We went fishing in San Diego. It was only my second time ever fishing and we had such great fun.

“We went fishing for half an hour and there was nothing at all. Then I pulled out a baby tiger shark.”

1D have raked in the cash over the last year, with their sell out tours, chart topping album and best selling DVD and now, insiders have claimed that they could be about to earn another £5 million between them, as they sign a new merchandising deal.

The deal will include new 1D dolls, as well as posters, t shirts, hoodies, calendars, books and much much more. Better start saving girls!
