Liam Payne has rubbished reports that One Direction are on the brink of a split.

Perez Hilton recently suggested that the X Factor stars are heading for a public meltdown and thinks that Zayn Malik will be the first to leave the group, followed by Liam and other members.

He said:

“I would not be surprised if One Direction break up in the next couple of years.”

“I think ultimately one of them will quit or get fired, they’ll continue on as a foursome and then not too long after – maybe a year or two – they’ll break up.”

However, Payne has claimed that he has no desire to be a solo singer or to perform without Zayn, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson or Niall Horan any time soon.

When asked if he was ever tempted to break free and fly solo, the handsome star told Top Of The Pops magazine:

“Erm, not really.”

“I think it would be massively, massively boring! I don’t know how Justin Bieber does it, but full props to him.

“I like being around the boys. I enjoy other people’s company and it’s a lot more fun being in a band on stage.”

1D have been on a whirlwind ride of touring, promoting, recording and performing over the past year with very few breaks in between. Liam thinks this sort of hectic schedule would be hard to adhere to, if he was on his own.

He added:

“There’s so much work in this industry that if I had to do it on my own, I don’t even know what I’d do. I’d be very bored and very boring!”
