One Direction 2012: Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards explains how she got together with Zayn Malik – are you buying it?
Perrie Edwards has made a point of talking very little about her relationship with Zayn Malik in recent months, however the blonde beauty has opened up about her romance a little bit this weekend in a new interview.
The Little Mix singer was promoting her new single ‘Wings’ during a chat with Fabulous magazine and revealed to the publication that she hit it off with the One Direction singer as soon as they met.
Perrie says they started out as friends when they first met last year, after 1D were asked to take part in a charity single with the 2011 X Factor finalists. The couple met during a video shoot for the record and though it was rumoured that they had a brief fling then, she insists that they didn’t actually get together until this year.
Edwards said:
“Yes, it’s official.”
“We were never together when I was on the show, but we did talk a lot. I met him on the charity single [Wishing On A Star which saw the 2011 X Factor finalists team up with 1D] and he was just really sweet and we’ve been friends since then.”
Zayn Malik met with Perrie in April, almost as soon as he returned to the UK after the band’s American, Australian and New Zealand tours. The hunk took his new lady friend out to the cinema and earlier this month he publicly declared his love when he wished her happy birthday on Twitter and said those all important three words.
Due to both their burgeoning careers, the pair spend a lot of time apart and even today, as Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne met with their other halves, Edwards commitments kept her and Malik apart.
She confessed that it is often hard to get around their conflicting schedules, she added that they are trying to work around it saying:
“It’s not difficult to have a relationship when you’re so busy, it’s just a case of knowing what your priorities are.”
She added: “Things do happen and it’s not you that changes, it’s your life that changes.”
Many fans have speculated that the reason Perrie and Zayn have spent so little time together, is that their relationship is fake and that the story was one fabricated by their joint record label in a bid to raise Little Mix’s profile.

I’m a Directioner, and I happen to love Perrie. She is a beautiful person with and without make-up no matter what she looks like. It sounds to me like you are a jealous Directioner. And besides, if you truly loved Zayn in the first place, you would be happy for him and not move on once you saw that he was HAPPY with Perrie. That’s right- he’s happy with her. So leave her alone. Do you think the hate she gets makes Perrie or Zayn feel very good? No, it doesn’t. Just leave Perrie alone. She’s been minding her own business this whole time. Leave her alone.
I’m a big directioner and I also really like Little Mix. We don’t know whether their relationship is real or fake, but I don’t understand all the hate Perrie gets. Ok, so she wears waaay too much make up, but she has an amazing voice. I love little mix and wish them all the best. But I don’t understand why Zayn being with Perrie is a reason for his decline in popularity, that to me is ridiculous. He has always been my favourite and if you are a true fan, you’d be happy for him. Whether you like his gf or not.
I’m a HUGE directioner and I love Little Mix as well and I don’t hate Perrie, she’s one of my idols. She is gorgeous with or without make up and she’s one of the most genuine people you could ever meet. She makes Zayn happy and that’s another reason why i love her. you can’t call yourself a little mix fan if you don’t like 1/4 of the band.
not every directioner hates her ! The truth of the matter is it doesnt matter what we think of the boys relationships if they want to have a long term relationship or a one night stand with someone its not our place to judge or send hate to whoever the person maybe . You need to let them have thier own personal lives, just worry about supporting them music wise. Don’t give directioners aa bad reputation by sending hate or spreading rumors that they’re a fake relationship.
Okay, You LOVE little mix, minus perrie? Little mix wouldn’t even be a band without perrie. Yes we do look things up on the internet, and yes you guys have all right to entitle your opinions. But when you are “bagging” on me bestfriend and her mate, i have an issue with it. If you were a real Little Mix & One Direction fan then you would be Joyful with them being happy. You hate Zayn because he’s in a relationship? You’re not a true directioner. Directioners don’t care if he’s dating a Susan Boyle look-a-like or Miranda Kerr. As long as he’s happy, true directioners are happy. Some people need make up to feel confident, and Perrie is one of those people. I don’t think if you were going out and knew your every move was going to be photographed by the paparazzi, you wouldn’t wear make up, or so many lies could be made up about you.It’s her life and if she wants to be Barbie, let her be, but there must also be something else there, that Zayn loves.
I don’t appreciate your hatred towards Perrie because I happen to be be a Directioner and a Belieber and I love Perrie. She is an inspiration to me and many others and has changed my life. I’m a Directioner, and I absolutely love Perrie. If you’ve watched any interviews with her, she is totally different than what you’d expect. She really is just an innocent 19-year old. Zayn was her first kiss. She is so sweet and she said so herself in an interview with Sugarscape when they were on X Factor, that even if he did ask her out then she would say no because she had to focus on herself and Little Mix doing the best they could in the competition.

Why are people being so mean to Perrie?! I love her to bits, seriously! She’s a great person, she’s gorgeous, she’s smart, and she’s amazingly talented! I don’t see any reason why to hate her unless you’re a jealous Directioner and want Zayn for yourself. But if she makes Zayn happy, then I am happy, and I love them both.
I used to hate Eleanor because I wanted to marry Louis, but then I realized how IMMATURE THAT WAS. And even though I started out not liking Eleanor, I didn’t ever send her rude comments to hurt her feelings. So even if you don’t like Perrie for some reason that will never be plausible, there’s no reason to send her hate.

I don’t LOVE Perrie and Zayn together because they just seem like a weird couple to me, but I do like Perrie. She’s ridiculously talented and so is Zayn. Im a directioner as well and I love Perrie! Im not from the UK but i think shes a sweet and stunning person. My personal opinion is i dont really know to be honest. I love the boys so much and if itis true than I’m estatic for Zayn. As long as their happy, who cares? its not your relationship. But sometimes it does seem a bit iffy. Zayn and Perrie are rarely seen together and sometimes they/she give off a “whatever” vibe. I mean Liam and Danielle are only seen holding hands, thats it nothing more in public. Same for Eleanor and Louis. But Zayn and her were like making out and sometimes it looks like their trying to hard and looks like they are trying to over do their relationship. if that made any sense. Basically, at times it looks like there just not themselves but honestly i dont care as long as their both happy and truly mean what they do theres nothing to really say.(:

Okay so when I first read this I was so happy that maybe..just maybe Zayn has found a partner in life but then when I scrolled down and read some of these horrible comments about her I wondered why these jealous Directioners are like this to Perrie but not to Dani and El heck they’re not even Directioners at all if they can’t be happy for Zayn or any of the boys for all the matter. We’re meant to be there for them and support them through this, not to do all this.
I would never say that I hate someone, especially the one I’ve never met in real life, like Perrie. But there’s just something about her that doesn’t let me like her, something’s coming from the inside, if you judge by her pictures. Her appearance reminds me of Anna Oliver (everyone knows who’s that and what she’s done to Miley & Demi in 2010), and I’ve got that anxious feeling that she may do something bad to Zayn. But, like I’ve already said, I don’t hate her. It’s just my opinion, and I hope that I’m wrong, because I don’t want Zayn to be hurt. If he’s happy with her, so, let it be. There must be something that he loves.

I’m not a jealous Directioner, because, if I was, I wouldn’t like Danielle or Eleanor, both of which I love to death.
