One Direction 2012: Louis Tomlinson gets Graham Blackledge trending on Twitter

Louis Tomlinson is a big reality TV fan. The One Direction shot to fame on The X Factor, backed bad boy Frankie Cocozza on last year’s series of the ITV show and tonight threw his weight behind comedy singer Graham Blackledge on Britain’s Got Talent.

The 1D star took to the micro blogging website to offer his support to the Blackpool performer, after he sang a mashup of ‘Phantom Of The Opera’ and ‘Hey Ya’ on the second semi final show of the week.

Tomlinson encouraged his three million followers to vote for the quirky performer, as he tweeted:

‘Yes!!!! EVERYONE VOTE GRAHAM’

When Amanda Holden criticised his performance, Louis insisted:

‘AMANDA IS WRONG HAHA!’

He even tweeted the hopeful directly, writing:

‘@G_Blackledge Mate thank you so much for the message. I will get as many people as I can to vote tonight, love what you do! Good luck!’

Such is the online power of 1D that within seconds #VoteGrahamBGT and Vote Graham 0902 44 23 06 were trending worldwide.

In the end though, while thousands of followers retweeted his messages, not enough cast their vote – or maybe they they called the wrong number as the one Louis posted was missing a digit – because Graham didn’t make it through to the top three acts tonight.

Instead Four Corners, Kai and Natalia and Joanathan & Charlotte clocked up the most support with two former two winning a place in Saturday’s final.

Graham seemed disheartened by the result and tweeted Tomlinson saying:

“I hope you enjoyed my performance and I didn’t let you down”
