It’s been reported today that after kind hearted One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson tweeted a message of support to young cancer sufferer Vanessa Riddle, his fans flocked to her website in their droves…

And as thousands of visitors loaded Vanessa Riddles’ website to find out more about her, it crashed, but was later back up and running.

Brave and inspirational 12 year old Vanessa has been battling neuroblastoma for three years, and is currently in hospital in Germany were she’s receiving stem cell treatment which could save her life.

Vanessa, who’s from Loans in Ayrshire, has been using her iPad to update her personal website and to keep in touch with her followers on Twitter and fans on Facebook.

So when Louis read about her brave battle, he tweeted her, saying, “Lots of Love @vanessariddle”

The Daily Record adds, “One of the administrators on Vanessa’s Journey Facebook page said: ‘They actually thought the site was under attack, such was the sudden surge of traffic. It also got Vanessa 5000 more Twitter followers’.”

Vanessa’s dad Chris said the messages of support his daughter has received, including Louis’, were “fantastic”.

He added, “Vanessa was playing it cool when Louis tweeted her but I think she was secretly very happy.”

Last week, the Record reported that Vanessa’s mum Connie had donated her cells after the paper’s readers helped to raise more than £800,000 to pay for the treatment, which is not available in the UK.

Vanessa, who’s going to be in hospital for around five weeks, has also had tweets from other celebrities including EastEnders star Shane Richie and Emmerdale actress, Lucy Pargeter.
