It seems like forever since we have heard a new One Direction song and we just can’t wait until the boys finally release their long awaited second album.

‘Up All Night’ topped the album charts all around the globe and their hit singles such as ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ and ‘One Thing’ have helped propel the group into pop super stardom over the last twelve months.

Imagine our excitement then, when the boys confirmed that their new batch of tunes will be coming very soon.

Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik are currently performing in the headline American tour, but in between concerts have been making time to hit the recording studio and work on new tracks.

Niall seems particularly buzzed by all the musical input and has tweeted the most about his studio time to date.

The Irish cutie wrote this week:

‘great week in the studio with @savan_kotecha and @TheRamiTacoub, great songs! Good to have @simoncowell down today! Dallas we’re comin!’

We can only assume that Cowell was in checking over the material recorded so far and casting his judgement on the boys’ work of late. We bet he was thrilled though, as it seems 1D can’t put a foot wrong these days and they are lining his pockets nicely with all their touring and merchandising success.

Niall later tweeted: ‘In the studio this morning a new song @tommcfly @Dannymcfly wrote for us, its really good, great song writers’

Harry Styles seemed excited too and added:

‘Can’t wait to finish the album and for you guys to hear it…hope you like it! .x’

So when can we expect to get a listen to the new tunes? Well Niall has revealed that their management is working towards a September release date, meaning we could get our first listen to the lead single as early as July.

Horan told MTV:

‘When we came back from Australia, we had a couple of weeks off and then we went straight into the studio to get cracking on the next album.

‘We wrote an absolutely cracking song that we’re all kind of very excited about.’

He added: ‘We’ve got to make a decision for a single soon, because we have to get a single out towards September… We want to have the most control that we possibly can of everything that we do.’

We can’t wait to hear what the lads choose as their first single from the new record and we can’t help but wonder if it will be one of the songs that Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne wrote for their lovely girlfriends back home.
