We love Niall Horan’s slightly metallic smile but it seems that soon it will be a thing of the past.

The One Direction singer has revealed that the retainer is doing it’s job wonderfully and his dentist confirmed today that he only has to wear it for another six months.

The Irish hunk took to Twitter to tell his followers:

‘been to dentist today ! got them tightened up and stuff! he tells me i will be gettin braces off in 6 months…teeth moving fast ! sick’

Niall is currently home in Mullingar, Ireland, where last night he enjoyed a night on the town wit some of his old pals as well as his new friend, Olympic medal winning boxer John Joe Nevin.

Horan travelled to watch Nevin fight three times in London over the last few weeks and tweeted today about the sporting hero’s welcome home, writing:

‘Great day yesterday!amazing welcome for @johnJoeNevin !And then chilled last night for @David93Lynch and @AdamKeena93 ‘s birthday’

He added:

‘What a day for @johnJoeNevin ! Sooo proud t have been there to see him at #London2012 and here in mgar #MullingarShuffle’

Niall will be making the most of his time with friends and family as in just a few days time, he’ll be jetting off again and returning to America. The lads will be completing work on their second album while stateside and taking part in some promo work, as well as performing at the MTV VMA’s next month.
