Niall Horan has admitted that things got a little crazy when his band toured America recently.

One Direction have gone from reality TV contestants to world famous pop stars in the space of two years and it seems like they have had a lot of adjusting to do over those 24 months.

During their recent tour streets were closed and police were called on various occasions, as the crowds of screaming girls who turned out to catch a glimpse of their idols became dangerously crazed and threatened to overwhelm their security team.

Speaking to MTV Irish born Niall confessed that their time in New York was a particular eye opener for him and he described the scenes saying:

“We’ve had some crazy times on this tour. When we were in New York, we were on our day off, and me and Liam were going down the street with one of our security guys and we got absolutely mobbed by about 600 people in Times Square, so it was kind of nuts,” Horan said. “That was the first kind of day where I thought, ‘OK … can’t take a walk down the street.’ ”

At the time Niall and Liam blasted the fans involved, with Horan tweeting:

“This is a complete joke. Ridic. Day off, wana chill.”

Liam seemed even less amused and tweeted: “That wasn’t even funny.”

We have to admit that after watching the video below. we do feel sorry for Liam and Niall. It must be hard to live any sort of normal life when you can’t even go sightseeing on holiday.
