One Direction 2012: Niall Horan says a 1D & The Wanted collaboration “would be just like Blazin’ Squad!”

There has of course been a lot of rumour around about a rift between boy bands The Wanted and One Direction, and to put an end to them, Max George – who is of course a band member of The Wanted – suggested that the two bands could collaborate on a record for charidee.

And today, during an interview with Digital Spy, 1D’s Niall Horan responded enthusiastically to the notion of the collaboration.

When DS told him, “The Wanted have suggested forming a supergroup with you for charity” and then asked, “Would you be up for that?” Niall replied, “It would be just like Blazin’ Squad!

“See you at the crossroads, crossroads, crossroads! That was a tune.

“It would be funny to see that, but we’ll see what happens. I haven’t heard anything about that yet.”

And of course, the 1D lads are used to working with other artists, having collaborated with X Factor’s Savan Kotecha and singer Ed Sheeran on their debut album, and Niall revealed that 1D are currently working with other singers for their new album.

He said, “Tom from McFly has just written a song for us and it’s very, very good! He wrote a song on the last album too and we love his style.

“We’ve got another writing session with him soon which should be fun.

“We’re also working with Ed Sheeran again – when we get back from America it’s straight to the studio with him!”

And finally, DS asked Niall if he’d been “starstruck” by anyone in the States yet, to which he replied, “I was starstruck by Michelle Obama. She’s an amazing-looking lady, and I’m a massive Barack Obama fan anyway.

Katy Perry still gets me every time. She’s very funny in person! We met at the Teen Choice Awards and she pulled my cheeks apart and told me how cute I was.

“My life was literally flashing before my eyes!”

Oh bless.
