Niall Horan has reached out to the McFly lads on Twitter.

The One Direction singer spent the afternoon in the recording studio with Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter working on his band’s second album, due for release later this year.

The record will be released in time for Christmas, with it’s lead single set to hit the shelves in the UK around September and the boys have been calling in some big named stars to help them write new material.

Niall tweeted tonight thanking the McFly lads, writing:

‘great session today with @Dannymcfly @dougiemcfly @tommcfly , famous words of danny,”if we cant write a song,we’ll have a laugh ! Haha’

He also tweeted out this picture of Fletcher, with the caption:

‘This one photo describes the session with the lads today hahaha @tommcfly’

Of course Tom has history with the X Factor band, having penned the track “I Want” for the group’s debut album, “Up All Night.”

He previously told Billboard:

“When I was in the studio with them, I was like, ‘Guys, you don’t understand, you’re going to be massive. They’re all awesomely talented guys, stupidly good-looking of course, as well. Young. They’ve got everything. They’ve got the whole package. But none of them realized it. They’re all very humble and down to earth. It just reminded me of exactly of how we were like when we started.”

Meanwhile, after spending some time with the younger stars, Danny has been praising curly haired cutie Harry Styles.

Speaking to Sugarscape he said:

“As a guy, he’s got the hair, he’s got the smile, he’s got the voice, he’s in one of the biggest bands in the world, that’s obviously attractive.”

He added:

“We’ve just written a song for One Direction. We’ll see what happens with that. We’re quite good friends.”

Danny tweeted today about their studio time, writing:

‘Great sesh today with @Harry_Styles @NiallOfficial @Real_Liam_Payne @Louis_Tomlinson @zaynmalik1D Great hangin! shame about ya fifa skills!’

We don’t know about the music yet but we have to say, it looks like the stars all had a great laugh in the studio today….we so wish we were a fly on the wall!
