Demi Lovato was first linked to One Direction’s Niall Horan when they met at the Kids Choice Nickelodeon Awards earlier this year and it appears the pair have stayed in touch.

It was revealed recently that the pair had swapped numbers at the ceremony in March and it seems that they are still keen to speak to one another, three months on.

Shari Short who works as a backing singer for the new X Factor USA judge tweeted the irish hunk this week and revealed that she and Demi had been speaking to him via Skype.

She wrote: “@NiallOfficial it was nice to meet you over Skype with @ddlovato are you going to come to one of our shows in the US this Summer?”

Demi and Niall had tweeted publicly to each other a few times, but this news means that the pair are in more constant contact than many fans would have suspected.

Do you think the pair would make a nice couple? We can’t wait to see if 1D get asked to perform on the X Factor USA live shows later this year…..We wonder if they will be properly dating by then?

Meanwhile, Niall seems to be missing his old buddy Olly Murs.

Olly is supporting the boys on their US tour, but has missed the last few concerts after travelling back to New York for a music showcase.

Tweeting from Mexico last night, Niall asked his pal:
