Perrie Edwards has admitted that she is glad to be dating someone who works in the same industry as she does.

The Little Mix singer is currently dating X Factor star Zayn Malik and though the pair are very much in the glare of the media spotlight, the blonde beauty says she doesn’t mind, because it’s nice to have someone that understands her life and work so well.

Zayn and Perrie reportedly hit it off last year, while they worked on a video shoot for the X Factor charity single. However, they got together properly in April, when the hunky singer returned from his tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Speaking to Glamour magazine, Perrie claimed that even though they are both incredibly busy and don’t get as much time together as they would like, she is still glad that she is dating another music star.

She explained:

“I think it’s a good thing. Because, when you’re in a relationship, obviously back home you’d see that person a lot… It’s hard not seeing them much when you’re in this industry, but at the same time it’s a good thing because you get the breathing space and you get to see them and it makes it more special when you do get to see them. And you can focus on this as well, like this is our career and obviously the main priority. And if you’ve got a boyfriend it’s good because you can balance it, instead of seeing them all the time…”

Edwards was asked if things were ‘tricky’ because Zayn is in another band and replied:

“Not really. I think it’s a good thing, because when we do see each other it’s a lot more special. And since he’s in the same industry, he gets it if I can’t go out with him or whatever because I’m doing a photo shoot, he understands. That’s the beauty of it, because we’re both in the same boat.”

So the obvious question of course is that, given both bands have come from the X Factor camp, would they ever consider collaborating with one another?

Well Edwards isn’t so sure and says that decision would be up to the boys. She went on:

“I don’t know! That would be up to them to decide, wouldn’t it?”

Her bandmate Jade laughed:

“Obviously, we’re big fans of One Direction, but I think we’re completely different from us… But who knows!”

Perrie must be getting excited now, as the love of her life is due to wrap up his American tour in just a few days time and should be back in England within the week.

She’d better make the most of their time together though, as with her own debut single ‘Wings’ due for release in August, her own schedule will be getting pretty hectic very soon.
