As we reported a few weeks ago, the One Direction boys – Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik – landed a very lucrative deal to star in an ad for Pepsi…

And today, we have the first look at the ad, which, though only 30 seconds long, shows that the boys have a sense of humour as they have a quick game of one-upmanship with US football star, Drew Brees.

Now, I must confess, I’ve no clue who Drew is, but clearly he’s big in the States, though as you’ll see in the ad, not as big as 1D – who is? – and in return for surrendering a can of Pepsi to the 1D boys, Drew gets to be a new member of the band to feature on their new track, Live While We’re Young.

As mentioned, the boys made a decent wad of cash from the shoot, which could be in part how Zayn funded the purchase of his new and designer pad which set him back a cool £2million.

The Sun reports, “He moved in earlier this week but the band’s diehard fans will struggle to get near the flash pad in north London. The house is so secure it even contains a Hollywood-style panic room.”

A source close to Zayn said, “The security is top notch as the panic room demonstrates.

“It has reinforced walls and bullet-proof doors plus monitors allowing Zayn to see the CCTV cameras throughout the house.

“It’s common in houses in that area.”

In other news, 1D’s BFF Justin Bieber made a surprise arrival at LA Reid’s Judge’s House in Los Angeles yesterday to be a guest mentor to LA’s acts.

LA is mentoring the Over 25s category, so arguably, Justin may have been an odd choice, but he did have his manager Scooter Braun in tow.

TV Biz report that LA told his acts of his guests, “One of them is an artist I discovered, and one is his manager.”

Meanwhile, Simon Cowell, who has the groups, introduced Marc Anthony as his guest mentor.

Simon told his artists, “Since we’re in Miami and we need someone to help me, I felt like we needed the King of Latin music. Let me introduce you to Marc Anthony.”

And Demi Lovato who has the Young Adults category, welcomed Nick Jonas, while Britney Spears invited Will.i.am to her Judges’ Houses home.
