Liam Payne may be one of the world’s most eligible bachelors but it seems that Victoria Beckham still doesn’t want to kiss him.

The One Direction star has admitted that the fashion icon recently recoiled from him, when he tried to greet her by kissing her on the cheek.

The embarrassing incident occurred when 1D and The Spice Girls met backstage at the Olympics closing ceremony, after they both performed for an audience of more than a billion people.

Liam was excited to meet the famous girl band and though he tried to be cool when he was first introduced to Posh Spice, he ended up blushing furiously when she played it super cool.

“I met Victoria Beckham and tired to play it cool by giving her a kiss on both cheeks,” Liam told The Sun.

“She just recoiled a bit and looked shocked after the first kiss. I don’t think she really wanted that kind of greeting. “

To make matters worse, Liam’s bandmates watched the whole thing and he revealed that Louis in particular found the whole thing highly amusing. He added:

“Louis Tomlinson from our band as stood next to me p***ing himself.”

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Liam recently split from his girlfriend Danielle Peazer and has already taken up with a new woman.

It is claimed that the pair only split last week but already Payne has been wining and dining former X Factor winner Leona Lewis.

Insiders say they aren’t seriously dating yet, out of respect to Danielle but that things are heading in that direction.

“To call it dating at the moment is a little far down the line,” an insider told Metro. They added:

“They’ve seen each other a few times.”

Leona hasn’t made a statement on her rumoured romance as yet and we’d love to think that there is nothing in these reports, as we always thought Liam was the good guy from 1D.

However, it seems she has always had a soft spot for the young hunk and she told Sugarscape last year:

“I found out that he is a fan of mine and really likes my music.”

“I met him and he is just the sweetest boy – he is so lovely, so I’m really pleased that everyone got me to follow him!”
