Olly Murs will soon be joining One Direction for their American tour and it seems like they will be happy to have him.

The boys all graduated from ITV show The X Factor, though Olly shot to fame a year before the teenage boyband and in a new interview with Yahoo, Zayn Malik admitted that he is looking forward to spending some time with the older singer.

The Xtra Factor presenter has been granted some time off from filming on the ITV2 show, s he can join 1D for their US summer tour and Zayn thinks he will be a good influence on him, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson.

He said:

“We’ve met him a few times, he’s a really cool guy and we’re looking forward to getting on the road. It’ll be cool to have an older guy with us hopefully. A bit like an older brother kind of role.”

However, 1D are known for their practical joking and tricks and Malik thinks Olly should be aware of what exactly he is getting into. He added:

“He should be worried about the pranks cos there are gonna be plenty of them.”

Olly flew out of London today, to begin his journey to Canada, where he will perform at his first One Direction concert. He tweeted:

On 1st flight today to London!!! Then next stop is toronto!! On my way to do @onedirection tour although I’m leg is causing some grief!!

He injured his leg while taking part in ITV’s Soccer Aid earlier this month.
