One Direction 2013: Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding hopes 1D don’t become “cocky and arrogant!”
Recovering alcoholic Sarah Harding, who is of course a member of girl group Girls Aloud, has revealed that she hopes global phenomenon boy band One Direction don’t become “cocky and arrogant”.
Speaking to The Sun, Sarah said, “I worry that bands like One Direction get so much success so young…”
Yeah, I’m the same. It keeps me awake nights.
Sarah added, “I’d hate to see them start believing their own hype and becoming cocky and arrogant…
“They’re only teenagers but they’re getting tattoos and I’m thinking, ‘Bloody hell!’”
She added, “It’s a rollercoaster. There will be ups and downs – you just have to accept that and ride it.”
Of her own struggles with fame, Sarah said, “I’ve been through the s******t couple of years of my life but I want people to know me for the girl I am today.
“The past is in the past.
“At one point, people thought I was the Liam Gallagher of the band because I’m more of a rock chick and I went out more than my friends.
“But I’ve grown up now. I live such a normal life when I’m in the country in Buckinghamshire.
“I love walking the dogs and I can relax there — I still shop in my local supermarket. It’s really so normal.”
And finally, of recent reports that there’s a booze ban in place during the Girls Aloud tour this year, Sarah said, “There’s not going to be a booze ban. I just wish people would take me for who I am now and move on from the past.”
