It’s been revealed by Examiner’s website today that X Factor boss Simon Cowell and his protégés One Direction have won big at the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which were held last night in Los Angeles.

One Direction won awards in the Favorite Music Group and Favorite Song – for their hit What Makes You Beautiful – while Simon landed the gong for Favorite Villain.

However, neither One Direction – who are of course Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne – nor Simon were at the ceremony, and in a disappointment to 1D fans in particular, neither 1D nor Simon provided any prerecorded acceptance speeches.

However, getting back to 1D’s wins last night, they romped home over other nominees in the Favorite Song category including Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe, Psy’s Gangnam Style and Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

The other nominees in the Favorite Music Group category were Big Time Rush, Bon Jovi and Maroon 5.

Meanwhile, Simon was the only nominee in the Favorite Villain category who isn’t an actor! The other nominees in the category were nominated for portraying characters.

Simon may also have been disappointed that The X Factor didn’t get a 2013 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award nomination for Favorite Reality Show. The nominees in that category were America’s Got Talent – though that is of course executive produced by Cowell – American Idol, The Voice and Wipeout. The winner was Wipeout.

Here’s a reminder of Simon making a pretty huge decision about 1D…
