One Direction have finally unveiled their Madame Tussauds waxwork figures and we have to admit, the sculptors did an amazing job!
Niall Horan revealed at a concert on Tuesday night that the models had been shipped to Nottingham so they could have final approval and their hairstylist could fix their lovely locks and this morning, we got out first glimpse of the statues.
Posing for the waxwork figures was a tiresome task and one of the team admitted that they spent ages measuring and photographing Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne earlier this year. They said:
“We have got them for 90 minutes and in that time we collect 200 measurements, 200 photos. We hope to capture the expression and Louis as best we can.”
Liam’s hair still hadn’t grown back after his shaving incident and apparently that helped. They added:
“Liam recently obviously shaved his head, which is actually really helpful in sculpting as it gives you a lot of detail about the shape of his skull. It sometimes can be a lot of guesswork if it’s underneath a lot of hair.”
Richard Arnold unveiled the figures on Daybreak this morning and revealed that each of the figures costs £150,000 to be made, there were twenty sculptors working on each figure for four months.
He revealed that all the tattoos (that the boys had done before the figures were made) are ‘present and correct’ and that the figures are dressed in clothes that were previously worn by the boys.
Remember, if you want to see the waxworks in London you have only 12 weeks to do so, so you’d better book those tickets soon!
