Liam Payne has finally shone a bit of light on his love life.

It was reported last week that he had split from his girlfriend of two years Danielle Peazer and it took him DAYS to confirm the rumours.

It was then reported that he had been enjoying dinner dates with former X Factor winner Leona Lewis, who he had previously admitted to having a bit of a crush on. It was said that Liam had well and truly moved on from Danielle and was totally hung up on the new woman in his life.

However, the 1D lads are taking part in a Radio 1 takeover today and during his two hour slot with Gemma Cairney this morning, Payne finally addressed some of the recent stories.

Before playing one of the songs he had lined up the 1D hunk insisted:

“I’d just like to highlight the fact that I’m currently single.”

Gemma reminded Liam that he had once named Leona as a celebrity crush and asked if he still thought of the songstress in the same way. He awkwardly admitted:

“Yeah, she’s hot.”

When quizzed further, about whether or not he had taken Lewis to dinner recently, Payne insisted ‘No’ and that was the end of the conversation.

Leona herself recently admitted that she has been shocked by the ferocity at which Directioners cling to rumours and take the news so seriously.

“They’ve got some amazing and crazy fans. They’re like ride or die (all or nothing),” she said in an interview with The Associated Press.

“I’ve learned, like over the past few years, not to read stuff because most of it’s untrue or like blown completely out of proportion. So I don’t really play attention to it,” she added.
