One Direction to Split up? Perez Hilton thinks it’s on the cards for Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne & Zayn Malik!
Perez Hilton is going to cause uproar amongst One Direction fans as he has insisted that the band will split up within the next few years.
The celebrity blogger has been speaking about the X Factor stars – who were put together in 2010 when they entered the reality TV show as solo singers – and revealed that he thinks they won’t be able to keep the band going for a long period of time.
Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik have been topping charts all around the world and have just returned from a sell out tour of America, however Perez thinks their appeal could fade as quickly as it started and told Digital Spy that he thinks interest will soon wane in the young hunks.
Hilton said:
“I would not be surprised if One Direction break up in the next couple of years.”
“I think ultimately one of them will quit or get fired, they’ll continue on as a foursome and then not too long after – maybe a year or two – they’ll break up.”
On why he thinks a split is on the cards for the teen boyband, he continued:
“It happened very quickly for them, so it could end very quickly for them too.
“Look at the Jonas Brothers – a few years ago they were incredibly popular, but now? Not so much.”
We have to say, while we do love a bit of Perez, we’re not sure we agree with him on this one.
It has been decades since fans of a band have been so widespread, fanatical and supportive as One Direction’s are and the Beatle like mania they have caused around the world seems ferocious enough to last for at least five years in our opinion.
It was revealed today that the organisers of a music festival which will feature the lads later this month, are already formulating plans to disguise the singers and smuggle them into the venue safety, because of their huge fanbase and constant crowd of following fans.

I think Perez is crazy. 1. One Direction ISN’T close to breaking up. 2. Don’t diss them,idc if you get paid for that but don’t. They are great people. 3. Perez may have a point. Bands and groups usually don’t stay together forever. After a few years the best ones out of the band usually want to go solo. John Lennon split with the Beatles. Michael Jackson split from the Jackson Five. Beyonce went solo from Destiny’s Child. Nicole Scherzinger split from the Pussycat Dolls. Diana Ross split with the Supremes. So most likely the same can happen to One Direction.

I don’t know.. I can’t see them breaking up for a while yet.. they’re too famous to. All their success has been compared to Beatle mania and if so One Direction will be around for a good few years to come

I don’t think they’ll be gone. They are an inspiration to millions around the world. Sure, other boy bands haven’t lasted long and haven’t been as famous, but that doesn’t mean One Direction won’t be an exception. They’ve said it themselves: “It’s all about the fans.” Without them, One Direction wouldn’t be who they are now, and the fans will never stop loving and supporting them.

Oh Please! Right now theyre just in their prime, just finished their first tour that was a MAJOR success, recording second album that Im sure will be just as popular, or maybe even more popular than the first.
I can see why he would point out the Jonas Brothers but they were more of a US thing, 1D is most certainly worldwide.

OKAY. I have a few points.
1) Perez, using The Jonas brothers is lame because they started in 2005, and then Joe and Nick persued SOLO CAREERS, and Kevin got married. BUT They are still very popular and they are working on new music as a band again, so hush up.
2) If they were gonna split up(IMPOSSIBLE) anytime soon, then why did they sell out almost every show in their 2013 tour?
3) Their fanbase, us Directioners are dedicated and loyal. I, for one will always stay by their side and love them forever.
4) Just because they became famous “fast” doesnt mean they will break up. Their friendships are STRONG. They arent friends. They are BROTHERS. They have all said that they consider each other their best friends. So really, They can never fight. They are young and carefree and hard working.
5) I dare you to try and find 5 people who get on as well as they do.
Just because they became famous so fast means nothing. I mean, so many people (including Perez) never thought they’d make it to the US or Canada(im including Canada cause I’m from Canada and no one acknowledges they’re here) well, Mr. Hilton, they are huge here! And I’d like to point out that Perez never liked One Direction, so who knows? Maybe he’s saying that to make it get to us or even them?

Perez took a big risk saying that. What he says doesnt matter. He doesn’t even have a fan base to support him. Maybe he should think about what he says before opening his ignorant mouth. One direction will be big until its time for the boys to move on with the second part of their lives. Young girls especially look up to these boys and he is just ruining it for all the fans.
I completely disagree, the Jonas Brothers were NEVER as big as One Direction. They were Disney Channel stars, not a big deal. I was never a huge fan. Just because One Direction got started and became popular REALLY fast, doesn’t mean they’ll end the same way. Any band can end quickly. I think they’ll keep it up, if you’ve seen their videos, they’re obviously really close and I don’t think they’d just split up. As for one of them getting fired, highly unlikely do to the fact that it would hurt their fan base, if someone’s favorite was kicked out of the band, they’d probably be mad and stop buying their music as a boycott. Just say, I completely disagree with Perez. I’m a Directioner, and those boys are HUGE right now, they might die down a little, but not much. They’ll never lose my interest. I think they are going to last for a couple years but they won’t last FOREVER it is true that they have a very strong fan base but so did the Beatles, The Supremes and other groups that still split up.
