One Direction win Best Live Act at Silver Clef Awards – Harry Styles & Zayn Malik get close to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley on Glamour cover!
One Direction have been named ‘Best Live Act’ at this year’s Silver Clef Awards.
The ‘Little Things’ singers faced some tough competition in the category and were up against some legendary performers including The Rolling Stones – who Harry Styles and Niall Horan met last week – Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen but picked up the gong at the awards ceremony in London yesterday.
The stars are of course in America presently and mid way through the US leg of their Take Me Home tour but accepting the trophy by video link, Harry gushed:
“Thanks to everyone who voted for us to win the Nordoff Robbins Best Live Act 2013. We are over the moon.
“Congratulations to Nordoff Robbins on another amazing Silver Clef Awards. What an incredible charity, helping people with music therapy.”
The ‘Live Act’ trophy is voted for by fans and members of the public, who are supplied with a shortlist of 30 acts compiled by concert ticket sellers Ticketmaster. They pick the acts by studying reviews and ratings on their website.
Over 26,000 people voted in 2013, with the Directioners coming out in force and making up 25% of the votes for their favourite boyband.
Chris Edmonds, chairman of Ticketmaster UK, commented: “One Direction really is the biggest band out there at the moment, having had their very successful tour last year.
“It’s great to hear from our customers which band they thought was the ‘Best Live Act’ of the last 12 months and clearly One Direction really won their fans over, taking just over a quarter of all votes.
“This will get fans even more excited for their huge ‘Where We Are’ stadium tour taking place next year. Congratulations to the boys!”
Meanwhile, the lads have graced the cover of Glamour magazine this week, posing with the gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for their shot.
Th X Factor stars were squeezed tightly around the stunning model, with Zayn Malik and Harry looking particularly cosy, as she cradled Malik’s face and held Styles’ hand for the photo.
The lads are clearly all going for the double denim look, which we normally hate but looks so good on them, but Harry stands out with his black blazer over blue shirt look.
Liam’s vest makes him look a little like a bad boy, which is really kind of hilarious, when you think about how much of a softie he really is.
