Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik & Louis Tomlinson have taken some time out of their hectic schedule this week, to thank their fans for helping them to win their first ever Brit Award.

The X Factor stars triumphed at Tuesday night’s award ceremony, picking up a trophy for Best British Single for their single ‘What makes You Beautiful.’ The result of the category was decided by a public vote and the boys had been pleading with their fans to cast their votes, for weeks before the big night. They ended up fighting off fierce competition from Adele, Ed Sheeran, Example, Jessie J, JLS, Olly Murs, Pixie Lott, The Wanted and the Military Wives.

After picking up the award, the boys filmed the video below, thanking their supporters for all their dedication.

Liam Payne said:

We want to say a massive thank you to you guys, because it’s all down to you. Thank you for voting all this time for us and sorry we went on at you a little but but we were so excited.

Zayn Malik added:

We wanted to win and you guys did it! So thank you.

Nial Horan still looked elated to be Brit winner and excitedly continued:

We love you! We had a great night and we seen some great acts and some great artists. There were great award winners and we were one of them, so thank you so much.

We can totally understand why the boys are so chipper at the minute as this really does seem to be their year. Not only have they won their first Brit Award but the band also stormed the US Billboard chart this week and became the first British act since 1998 to debut a single in the top 30.

After their recent sell out theatre tour, the boys are now confident that they can fill bigger venues too and this week announced that they will be performing in arenas all over the UK and Ireland in 2012. Tickets go on sale on Friday!
