There can be fewer musicians who are better placed to advise One Direction on how they can continue now that Zayn Malik has quit than Take That veteran, Gary Barlow.

The latest X Factor 2014 news: Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole return!
We reported yesterday that there are some big changes to come for The X Factor this year, and it looks like we might not just be talking about the judging panel.
Apparently, the scheduling is going to have a MAJOR shakeup, and we may not see The X Factor be so prominent on a Saturday evening moving forward.

X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is never one to keep her opinions to herself, and when she feels something needs saying, she says it…

Former X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger has reportedly said that she’s “done” with the UK and is therefore going back to her native America.
The evidence of how destructive fame can be has been seen in the tragic consequences it has had for a number of stars in the past…
Take for instance Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain – to name but a few – who all became self-destructive as they struggled to cope with fame and all that it brings.
And while many struggle to understand how having fame and fortune can become a miserable existence, as we reported earlier, a senior psychology lecturer pointed out that living in a “goldfish bowl” and having everything you do scrutinised and reported on is enormously stressful.
And of course, One Direction singer Zayn Malik knows that only too well, given he’s recently been signed off work as he is suffering from stress after allegations were made in the media that he may have cheated on his fiancé, Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards.
It was while discussing the drama surrounding Zayn that former pop star Sinitta levelled criticism at music mogul Simon Cowell – who of course first put One Direction together as a group and has since overseen their careers – over his recent assertion that should 1D wish to pursue solo projects, he’ll support them, as long as they don’t split up as a band.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Sinitta said, “The [One Direction] boys have worked nonstop since they left the show.
“It’s been so intense… but you know, sometimes, they just crash.
“Simon encouraging them to do solo projects isn’t going to do well for them [but] taking a break is.”
Sinitta isn’t the first – and surely won’t be the last – to think that the One Direction lads are overworked, and as we reported last year, one industry insider even claimed they were being worked “like dogs” in order to capitalise on their global popularity…
And it can’t be denied that since their time on X Factor in 2010, Harry Styles, the aforementioned Zayn, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have had barely any time off between tours.
But even when they do, they don’t get to enjoy much of it given that they are constantly surrounded by press and fans, and can’t do even the simplest of things that the rest of us take for granted, such as going on a holiday and lazing on beach, or even going out with friends for the evening.
Everything they do, everywhere they go, they’re filmed and photographed doing it and followed by the media and fans, so the only time they actually get to relax is if they are in their own homes or in a hotel room. And even then, chances are, the press and fans will be outside, so they daren’t go near a window!
We know we couldn’t live like that. Could you?
And do you think One Direction have been overworked? If so, is that why Zayn has, as Sinitta put it, “crashed”?
