Britney Spears recently revealed that she would NOT be returning to The X Factor USA for a second year on it’s judging panel and it seems that Simon Cowell may have lined up a big named replacement.
The music mogul is really up against it, as L.A. Reid also vacated his seat, leaving the TV boss with two spots to fill, ever conscious that he desperately needs to boost ratings on the new series after the viewing figures fell once again in 2012.
Insiders say that Cowell has been pursuing ‘Nobody Knows’ hitmaker Pink to join the lineup of his American show, even though she has previously shunned reality TV and distanced herself as much as possible from the genre.
The Daily Star Sunday reports that 33-year-old Pink could join the line-up, even though she previously said she wouldn’t want to be a judge on a show, as people would ‘hate’ her.
“I was offered The Voice in Australia plus American Idol and The X Factor,” she told Australia’s Herald Sun. “I said no because you can’t be honest.
“People will hate you if you’re honest. Simon Cowell is the only person who gets away with it because he’s got an accent. And he’s a man.
“People would just hate me more than they already do. I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings. Besides, you can sing karaoke anywhere.”
Apparently she is considering changing her mind.
Back in Britain, it’s claimed that Simon is in constant negotiations with Cheryl Cole about a comeback, even though she also has insisted she will have nothing to do with his TV shows again.
Of course the Geordie beauty was once one of the most popular members of his panel, until Cowell whisked her to America, then sacked her after two weeks.
The Daily Star reports that Gary Barlow may not be back for the 2013 run, so bosses are desperate to convince Chez to replace him and an insider said:
“Simon is looking for a big name to replace Gary but as long as Cheryl is back on the panel he knows the show will be a massive hit.”
He may have a hard time convincing her though as a source told omg! Yahoo that Cole is happy with her Girls Aloud reunion, her solo music career and isn’t interested in looking back anymore.
“Cheryl is really content with her life at long last. She is enjoying working with Girls Aloud for their reunion tour.”
Sharon Osbourne could find herself back on the panel, as she’s made no secret of her desire to return and only last week she was spotted out on the town with Si Co and Louis Walsh. Could she have been discussing a return?
Rita Ora has also been linked to the ITV singing competition, but confirmed that she had turned the offer down.
Mel B, 37, was a bookies favourite to sign up but the former Spice Girl has recently left The X Factor Australia to appear on ‘America’s Got Talent’ instead.
Who would you like to see on The X Factor 2013? At this rate it’s going to be The Cheeky Girls in those empty seats!
