Popstar Winner Anton Gordon Turned Away From X Factor

Anton Gordon, one of the winners of ITVs contest ‘Popstars The Rivals’, in which Girls Aloud shot to fame, was turned away from the X Factor auitions by the production team. he didn’t even get to meet the judges!

Anton Gordon won the show, to become a member of boy group, One True Voice. One True Voice became a laughing stock after their debut single lost out in the battle for the Christmas number one to Girls Aloud.

Their second single Shakespeare’s (Way With) Words performed even worse, only making No10 in the charts. The band split soon afterwards.

An X Factor insider said: “Producers were so embarrassed that one of ITV’s so called winners was back queuing that they sent him away — despite the fact that he and Coree were probably two of the most talented people there.

A show spokeswoman said: “They turned up in Manchester but didn’t make the grade.

Anton is the second OTV member to have approached the X Factor.

Fellow bandmate Matt Johnson tried out for the first series in 2004, but like Anton did not make it past the first round.
