Rachel Adedeji: ‘X Factor editing meant that people didn’t know me’

Rachel Adedeji has suggested that she may have left the show because of bad X Factor editing.

In an interview with The Mirror, Rachel said that viewers knew very little about her in comparison to her fellow female competitors, Lucie Jones and Stacey Solomon.

She said: “Viewers didn’t know who I was to begin with, whereas other contestants, like Stacey and Lucie, have back stories. I have one, but it wasn’t broadcast as much as the others.

“It never got to me because I came to sing, and I thought people just voted on our performances. But it shows it is not just about singing.”

I do agree with Rachel on this, we saw lots of video coverage of auditions on some of the other acts. We also learnt about where they were from or what they did, we knew the person behind the voice. We did not get to find out about Rachel the producers practically ignored she was there it’s as if they did not want her to be popular, maybe she was competition for the ones they want in the final 3 or 4.

I think your right. Rachel was getting better week after week. Maybe too much competition for Simon’s acts?????????

I don’t think it would have mattered in all honesty how much coverage Rachel had. Rachel was being marketed wrongly. First came the big hair which reminded me of someone from the old pop scene ? Jones, can’t think of her first name and then came the Whitney Bob.

I also think she was been given the wrong songs and her level of tuition turned a possible singer into a belter, which showed in her vocal technique which was very throaty and could ulltimately be damaging. The voting figures which was used at the end also showed us that a large propoertion of younger viewers are ringing in this year as Lloyd being a cutesy boy makes the young girls all goey eyed.

I totally agree too , they always showed the others interacting with fans etc . And showed Rachel trying to defend herself after each week’s bottom 2 saga .

She has a point there; Stacey, Olly, Danyl, Joe, Lucie, Jamie and Jedward have referred to alot and it seemed the judges completely forgot about Her, Lloyd, Rikki, Kandy Rain and Miss Frank ( because they had three separate auditions). Which isn’t fair because all of the auditions (except for maybe Olly and the first half of Lloyd’s – the second half was BRILLIANT :D ) were quite good. And Rachel has a wicked personality (excitable, funny but not ditzy nor cocky) and so does Lloyd (calm, collected, mature for his age and yet sooo funny and sweet :) ) But everyone make s a big deal of Olly being the ‘Cheeky Chappie’, Jedward having the ‘Fun Factor’ The way Stacey talks and How Danyl is apparently ‘cocky’ – tbh we didn’t know much about Jamie either.

rachel didn’t get much publicity before the live shows..
but neither did joe.. and he had to improve week by week to get noticed and obviously he’s had many dedicated fans because he’s been able to connect with the public. my favourite has been joe since day 1
