Ratings News: X Factor Movie Week attracts fewer viewers than Strictly Come Dancing Wembley special!
Viewers were more excited about last night’s Strictly Come Dancing Wembley Arena special, than they were about X Factor Movie Week last night it would seem.
Once again, the ITV singing show failed to draw in as many viewers as it’s rival BBC dance show and trailed behind with almost a million less people tuning in to watch the final six contestants croon tunes from their favourite films.
It was the first week that the two live specials didn’t clash, yet still the X Factor failed to attract the stragglers and actually managed to drop 500,000 compared to last week’s figures it has been reported.
An average of 11.4 million viewers tuned in for the BBC episode last night – the figure peaked at just over 12.5 million – which was staged in the massive Wembley Arena and boasted the most amazing starting sequence, featuring professional dancers and even the judges performing a Queen medley.
ITV’s X Factor lagged behind with an average of just 10.5 million viewers and this figure included those who caught up an hour later on ITV+1.
We were slightly surprised by the figures, as we felt that last night’s show featured some of the best performances of the series to date. All the dead weight is gone, the joke acts have been eliminated and we were subjected to Frankie Cocozza’s offensive mug even once during the episode.

Whilst Unreality TV yu are quite rightly saying overall on the x factor the standard was better this week some inportant questions remain;
- Was there anybody brilliant – No
- Were the songs chosen actually great showstoppers – No
- With only six songs featured – were we entertained – No
- How many ad breaks can you squeeze into an hour and a quarter – with x factor at least 5 and danger is with them given the standard this year you actually forget who was on before the ad break! Key winner in Ireland this year is pizza deliveries. ( We get Domino’s ads – whihc stinks as the nearest from our house is 25 miles and they won’t deliver! )
- Has Dermot’s dancing routines attracted dancing fans to x factor – No and whoever came up with that idea should be sacked.
A lot of work to be done yet !
Mediocre and predictable.
Gary Barlow despite being talented in this own right, is downright dull and boring. The field of acts are just not as talented as in the past years. Disappointing to say the least. Bring back Danni and I never thought I’d admit this but Cheryl Cole as well!
