Rita Ora turned down chance to record Cheryl Cole’s ‘ Call My Name’
Cheryl Cole is preparing to launch her new single ‘ Call My Name’ but it has emerged that she could have been releasing another song altogether, if Rita Ora had chosen the song.
21 year old Ora is being tipped as the next big British female artist and is already predicted to take the charts by storm with her second single “R.I.P.” featuring Tinie Tempah. She has revealed that she was offered the chance to record ‘Call My Name’ for her debut album, however she turned down the Calvin Harris penned tune, because she didn’t want to go down the dance musc route.
Rita told The Sun;
“I heard Call My Name quite a while ago because I was offered it. I turned it down. I do like the song but I didn’t want to sing it ’cos it’s not really me.”
The London born singer added:
“I don’t want to go down the dance route that a lot of other pop stars are doing. I prefer to have my own sound and do my own thing.”
It’s not surprising that Rita and Cheryl’s musical paths have crossed paths, as the pair have had many of the same producers and stars working on their new releases. Former X Factor judge Cheryl is managed by Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am, who also produced on Ora’s record.
Cole has set a release date for ‘Call My Name’ and it will become available to buy or download on 10th June, meanwhile Rita will make public her single R.I.P. on 7th May.
Rita’s album is expected later this year and we are expecting great things, since she has been recording it for two years and working with Will.I.Am, Ester Dean, Drake, The-Dream, Kanye West and Stargate on the songs.
