Rod Stewart Set To Appear On X Factor
Rod Stewart is set to make a guest appearance on hit show The X Factor and offer the contestants some tips and advice.
61-year-old Rod will also help judge the contestant’s performances when the show goes live next month.
He told the Daily Star that despite years of live performances, he sometimes gets stage fright.
“I’m going to do X Factor in a couple of months. Those kids have got some guts. I’m used to big crowds, but even when I do TV shows I’m on edge.”
A show spokesperson added: “There will be some guest judges. But as for Rod, it’s speculation.”
Rumour has it that Rod let the cat out the bag, because TV bosses were trying to keep their celebrity judges under wraps until the last minute.
An insider said: “They were furious with Rod. It was to be a surprise, but now he’s blown it.”
Other guest stars linked to the ITV programme include Westlife, Beyonce and Julio Iglesias.

Rod stewart is 61 and malcolm mclaren is sixty, elton John is around ninety but they are more outspoken and independant minded, than a lot of the young artists today.
No doubt Rod has a new album coming out near christmas, so the show will give the gravel voiced crooner, some valuable publicity.
I am a bit disturbed that kings of pop like Rod Stewart have to appear on programmes like X-factor to keep in the public eye, when a considerable amount of the contestants audition singing his songs.
What have we done to our great british music industry. John Lennon would be turning in his grave, if he could see britain now, George Harrison would be reciting a hindu prayer for us and MARY WHITEHOUSE WOULD BE APPROVING.
I am not knocking the talent of the singers on X-factor, its just that they are not rebellious enough,
they do what they are told to be liked and they
are just too nice and too eager to please everyone.
I AM MOST OFFENDED by the lack of rebels , MOST OFFENDED INDEED.
Its a shame when you want to see rebels that you have to look to grandads for your inspiration.

I agree with you to a degree. However, like Americna Idol, it’s true these kids are coached. But everyone has to start somewhere. Sometimes it takes them a while (even outside of the show) to get their footing. Take Americna Idol star Ruben Studdard. His new album ‘the return’. He believes this will truly be his ‘coming out’ CD as he shows his fans who he really is. Claims of the CD having more ‘mature’ songs are included. You would not have seen this type of song during the taping of American Idol. Yea, perhaps you are saying ’so what, that’s America’. But I’m just saying that’s seeming to be the standard. Especially with singers who appear on reality shows and suddenly they are stars. People like Elton John, Rod Stewart and John Lennon had to work hard on their craft, sometimes with little or no respect. Of course once stardom hit the attitudes followed naturally. Give these newbies some time, they will find their own way.
I’m not knocking the reality TV talent show stars I’m knocking the producers and certain members of the voting public. Who are voting for someone to win the competition , as opposed to voting for a realistic recording artist.
If an artist doesnt seem to do well after these shows, with their first two singles they are dropped from the record company and the people who have voted for them, dont support their recording career either.
so while we may see them on the front cover of magazines for a while they are famous, but not famous for their music, which is the most important thing.
I would love to see how Tabby (I think it is), Gareth Gates, etc develop as artists, but I dont think they are given the chance in the UK
I think the American market whilst quite disposal are much more loyal to their contestants. The USA did have the monkees for years, who were totally manufactured, but they made some good records and did develop. the USA audiences also did resurrect Sheena Easton’s Career. who was probably the first uk reality tv talent star.
There have been some gutsy people on fame academy, X-factor etc but they dont seem to make it longer than the programme.
I loved the last american x-factor better than the UK one as I thought the contestants were slightly more gutsy, independant and edgy.
simon often says “you make me smile”, when he puts an artist through, as he is a middle aged man, this disturbs me.
I sometimes wish that he said you disturb me, I dont know what you are about and I am frightened so I want to put you through.
My parents watch X-factor and approve of the contestants more than they did, watching top of the pops in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. My mother was appalled by twisted sister, appalled by the sex pistols, disturbed by prodigy concerned about public enemy and Robbie Williams. She even used to comment about elton Johns clothing being “strange”.
However she likes Shane ward, Steve from the first one and journey south. She thinks Richard Fleischman has ladies hair, but he is a lovely young man, surely this is wrong.
I’m not sure we will get a person with the X-factor from the X-factor programme and we might have to look elsewhere for new recording artists.
Honestly, I would buy CD’s from most of the last set of the USA x-factor finalists.
Although the British ones were competant and decent singers they were slightly to middle of the road for me and I listen to SAGA FM and radio 2.
So I wait but, am not expecting a stevie wonder, john lennon, freddy mecury or elvis presley to be found.
But from the last 8 years of these shows we have got
Will Young and Lemarr, I can see them carrying on for many years into the future.
But they are not exactly the rebels and innovaters, that I think the older people like Malcolm Mclaren and Elton John are looking for when they have criticised such shows.
