Seal ‘Susan Boyle is a true artist’

Grammy award winner Seal has admitted that he is skeptical about talent based reality TV shows and said that Susan Boyle is the only true artist that has emerged from the format.
In an interview with The Daily Star, Seal admitted that he watches shows like The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, but thinks they may be harming the music industry.
Seal said: “It’s good entertainment but I question sometimes whether it’s the best thing for our industry.
“Susan Boyle is an exception. I seriously believe that Susan couldn’t give a stuff about being famous. She sings because it’s in her – she’s a true artist. She sings because it’s her form of expression and if she doesn’t she will become ill. It’s her way of release.”
He added: “When I started of course I wanted to be successful but I didn’t want to be famous.
“I don’t know if winners of shows like The X Factor really want to be successful. What I see is an incredible drive to be famous.”

Very perceptive Seal… Susan Boyle is a true artist and has been honing her craft for years just waiting for her time to shine and make people happy…. That and more has she achieved in the few short months since the world became aware of her and her talent. Go Susan!!!!
Whats Seals favourite drink?A Canadian club on the rocks.
I echo that sentiment Seal. That true artists sing because it is in them, part of their life. Singing has been a major part of my life for 40 years out of 47. Its not that Susan Boyle is Unique as a singer as there are many good to excellent singers in the regions who don’t go for the fame label.
There are quite a few better than Susan in the regions as I have heard them. But let us not take away from Susan this marvellous media portrayal and this fabulous recording deal we should all wish her well, afterall it is not all of us who would want to sell our soul to the media machine and lose ourselves in the process.
I do believe however that Susan Boyle has a story which has made her famous. It is her story which has touched the hearts of Britains and Americans today.
The reason why her story has touched people is because the way we used to live is so far removed from the way we live today.
I’m the same age as Susan Boyle but where Susan Boyle remembers bullying as being applicable to her, I remember it being intrinsic a part of life. A sad part of life. Our early life growing up in totally impoverished council estates, where nobody possessed anything of any value, life was rough and ready. It was survival of the fittest. School was just the same but sadly not all bullying was done by your fellow classmates. Most of it was done by teachers who believed that if you spared the rod you spoiled the child.
For everyone in my age group from a working class background this story is in the hands of public ownership. Everyones tale of hardship and hardtimes. An even more stark story exists for those from an older generation again as theres was without the existence of the welfare state.
The problem is though, do we want to hear all these tales of hardship or bullying is it necessary to succeeding that you should use your tales of woe. I think we should let talent speak for itself and on that score Susan Boyle is talented and deserves her success.
