Sharon Osbourne who had a twelve month advertising contract with the supermarket chain Asda has quit after just seven months.
Asda’s latest campaign “Mums in a Million” showed Sharon bouncing on a trampoline in an Asda store and talking to both customers and staff. But it seems that the new face of Asda was not the hit with the public that Asda bosses had hoped for.
This is the first time that Asda have opted for celebrity led advertising, usually preferring to hire ‘normal’ mums for their advertising campaigns. Not only were those campaigns more successful, but I bet they paid the mums who featured in their old ads a fraction of Sharons fee. Maybe they should have headed the old saying, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”!!
