After his first ever gig at GAY on Saturday night Shayne Ward told of his admiration for Robbie Williams and revealed that he wants to follow in his footsteps.
“I’d love to be the new Robbie Williams,” a starry-eyed Shayne told the Daily Star.
“He’s achieved a lot and that’s what I want to do. I heard Robbie watched the show, which is incredible. I hope he voted for me!”
His X Factor guru, Louis Walsh, also believes Shayne has what it takes to out-Robbie the former Take That star.
“I knew when he walked into the auditions that we had discovered a star,” he said, oozing with the benefit of hindsight.
“Shayne can definitely be an international star. I think he has the potential of Robbie Williams.”

Shayne has a quality to his voice that is even as good as Sam Cooke. I just adore Robbie, but Shayne could sing anything.
I would have liked to have heard him sing Change is Gonna Come. But he is a little too young for that. HE COULD DO THAT SONG.
