Simon Cowell: Alexandra Burke Can Be As Big As Leona Lewis
Simon Cowell has insisted that last years X Factor winner had the potential to be as big a star as previous winner Leona Lewis.
“When you have someone with a life story like that and you get to know them and they’re talented, you hope they do well – no one else was giving her a chance,” he told The Sun.
“She can be as big as Leona Lewis. We’ve already selected three or four songs for her and I’m happy with what we’ve done so far.”
I would imagine that Alexandra actually has the potential to become even bigger than Leona. Alex has more stage presence and personality than Leona and live on stage is much more engaging.

So what if alexandra cried a few times – is it not okay to have emotions these days ? It doesnt take away from the fact she has an amazing talent and with her personality she can go far !
Dont get me wronge i love leona but alexandra just has the whole package, her singing and dancing are fab and she blew me away when i saw her live @ the o2/ she gave me shivers and she has such a powerful voice.
I believe she will be VERY successful

They were not crocodile tears they were tears of passion for her first love music, and joy when three years ealier she had been cut down by mr walsh, hear she was she had finally made it and could not belive it that’s why she cried,she is so humble she thought everyone was better than her,there is nothing false about Alex mate but there is something nastie about you. I luv Alexandra, not nearly as much as Leona; I thnk Leona has a much bigger range, she is an effortless singer n she has a much more beautiful natural soundin voice. Alexandras singin seems forced n I dnt care if she has more personality Leona always puts in emotion n passion n I cry all the tiem at her performances. Bt theres no way Simon said that, he worships Leona he would never say a bad thing about her n he knows she will always be bigger than Alex. He never compared Alex 2 Mariah Carey n he never said she was the best contestant ever n 1 of the best singers in the world. Bt I do thnk he will use Alex as much as possible 2 make money. I thnk she should still b given the chance she is still way better than sum popular singers about right nw like Rihanna, Lady Ga Ga ( not even comaprable). I thnk Alex has a voice like Alicia Keys. As 4 Leonas personality of shy n humble thts wht makes her special n thts mainly the reason why she is such an inspiration n me n lots of other people. He may not have compared Alex to Mariah, but he did compare her several times to Whitney Houston. He never said Alex was better than Leona, but he did say after she won that Alex could have the same success as her because she was “that good”.
You see that’s where Leona fans seem to have this complex about pushing the point all the time about Alex not being as good as Leona why do they allways have to comfort themselves pushing this point,you see Alex does,nt need a voice like Leona’s what she has got is a big soul voice passion rythmn personality and huge stage presence she is a total entertainer, that’s why the Americans will love her they like a big voice and they pine for the days when they had a young whitney houston and with Alex they will get a combination of whitney, Toni Brackston,and And Beyonce she does’nt need a high register voice she’s got everything else. Alex and Leona are not in a one on one competition it is totally pointless comparing them they are totally different genra’s.
First of all, Im sick and tired of this Alex-Leona thing. Let me emphasise something here. Both singers are brilliantly talented in different ways. Yes Leona has achieved worldwide status. Alex is ready for worldwide stardom. Yes Alex can achieve the same glory as Leona without a shadow of a doubt. We Brits should be proud nurturing talents like Leona and Alex. Im a major fans of both of these differently talented singers. It crazy to see Leona fans bashing Alex fans…for gods sake give Alex a chance. If Alex does become as successful as Leona all Alex and Leona fans should be proud of these gals flying the flag for the UK. Remember I am a Leona fan as well. And I agree with Alexsuperstar’s comment 100% – Americans will love her over there coz I know I have american friends who adore Alex and they are also Leona fans too.

How sad to read negative critism from Brits towards their two greatest upcoming artists. These gals might be the next Mariah Carey and Whitney and that’s the closest Britain might ever get to producing women with true diva voices. Co-existance guys! Unless you learn to support your artists as we Americans do, you’ll have to sit back as American artists continue to out-shine yours. Most of our upcoming artists are not half as talented as Alexandra Burke (Whom too we’re going to take from you) or Leona Lewis (Who I doubt can come back to Britain), yet we make them bigger stars internationally than you guys do. Some of you guys are so hostile and jealous (I’m sure none of these haters will be known outside your villages), no wonder your artists dont look back once they come to America.
