Simon Cowell: ‘Christmas number one was never that good!’

X Factor boss Simon Cowell has refused to apologise for dominating the battle for Christmas number one for much of the noughties. In fact Mr Cowell says that Britain had a tradition for really crappy number one singles at Christmas and that we are just being nostalgic when we wish for the good old days.
He told NME:
‘I think we all have this belief that the Christmas Number One was just amazing songs, a real special occasion, but actually when you look at them over recent years it was Bob The Builder one year, Mr Blobby.’
‘There’s a tradition of quite horrible songs. I think I’ve done everyone a favour. I do!
‘And, by the way, anyone is entitled to have a pop at us one year.’
We think that Simon has a bit of a cheek complaining about Mr Blobby stealing Christmas number one, since he was the man responsible for it!
