Simon Cowell has admitted that he has never been so happy as he is right now.

The 50 year old X Factor boss, who got engaged to makeup artist Mezghan Hussainy in February this year, is more content than he has ever been and yet he is still excited about the future of his ridiculously successful career.

He told OK magazine:

“Has this been my happiest year? Yes it has. When you hit 50, you realise what you want to do with your life. Do you slow down or carry on? I’ve made the decision to carry on. I’m having a good time.

“I like the fact people are still interested in our shows. They are great fun to work on. It’s the best feeling in the world.”

On how he kicks back when work finishes, Cowell added:

“Being with my friends makes me relax. I’m taking more holidays than I used to. But it’s my choice whether I work hard and I still like my work and I do work hard.”
