Simon Cowell has revealed that he may not give this year’s X Factor runner up a record contract. Speaking at today’s press conference Simon said that only the winner is guaranteed a deal with his record label.

Cowell said:

‘Particularly this year I would say it is more important to win.

‘I don’t make any commitments to anyone beyond the winner.’

‘Everything changes. Sometimes you can work with the runner up sometimes you can’t.’

Simon has pledged his complete commitment to the winner though. He said:

‘What I learned over the last year is that you can’t make a decent album in less than seven or eight months. Full stop you just can’t.’
