Simon Cowell not happy that The Voice UK will be up against Britain’s Got Talent 2012
Simon Cowell is said to be disappointed that the BBC have decided to air their new series of The Voice, at the same time as Britain’s Got Talent will be going out on ITV.
The music mogul returned to the UK this month, to begin auditions for the annual talent event and has spruced up the panel with the addition of Little Britain star David Walliams and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon.
Speaking at the weekend the X Factor boss confessed that he saw the BBC’s decision to go head to head with one of his shows again, as a ’100 per cent declaration of war’.
‘They have gone head to head with us,’ he told The People. ‘If they want a competition we’ll make it a competition.’
We can see why Simon would be worried. His last series of The X Factor consistently lost out to it’s on screen rival, Strictly Come Dancing and his recent gameshow ‘Red Or Black’ proved to be a ratings disappointment.
Usually Britain’s Got Talent runs in it’s weekend time slot, mostly unchallenged by any similar shows, however this year viewers will once again have to make a choice between the two major channels.
BBC have landed themselves an all star lineup for The Voice, with Jessie J, Will.ia.m, The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue and Welsh legend Tom Jones heading up their judging panel. The American version of the show was a ratings hit in the US last year, with it being heralded as the most ‘credible’ TV talent show around.

BGT ALL THE WAY ,WE FANS STICK WAT WE NO IS GOOD .
Yep, that reply from Julie says it all; can’t spell, no understanding of sentence construction. Perfect Simon Cowell fodder. It’s “know” Julie, not “no”. You stick with BGT. You deserve it and it deserves you.
I think I’m going to choose The Voice. While I had a lot of initial enthusiasm for BGT it doesn’t really produce much and the semi finals to final run through is so fast its unfollowable.
You complete the auditions round on a sunday, then by next Sunday the final is already over (its on Saturday) you go from end of auditions to Final in 6 days on X factor it takes 12 weeks (10 live shows + bootcamp + judges houses)
Also the only success stories from BGT have been Paul Potts (though has now faded) Diversity and Susan Boyle.
I can’t even tell you who won the Series before last. I know we had Paul potts, then george sampson, then I think it was Diversity, hope I’ve not missed someone. Then 2011 it was Jai, but im sure theres been a winner in between Diversity and Jai i just dont remember who it was.
Oh and as for Jai, biggest flop ever. He won, but I’ve not heard a single/album from him even make the Top 40. He was bad in his final performance (though good in the semi) and no one expected or really wanted him to win.
The probably with BGT is the massive drop offs. Like I mentioned earlier about how the semis and final all bunched up into 1 week.
But then also, with eliminations, only 2 people make it through out of 8 in the semis, thats a 75% drop off. Also, the Monday show always seems to have the most talent with good acts that should be in the final missing out because theres simply not enough places, but then when you get to like Thursday, its always rubbish on the thursday and theres no real talent at all.
Then finally, in the final, the vote is out of 10 ways, so an unpopular candidate can end up winning. Theoretically, although this has never happened, somebody could win Britains Got Talent with just over 10% of the vote. To win X factor, you need 50% of the final vote.
The should at least cut it down to a final 2 or 3, then re open voting. Or like a Big Brother final. Keep frezzing the vote knocking out the lowest few, then unfreezing.
Strictly come dancing is so much more than x- factor , infact 2011′s factors was just not worth watching despite whatever was on on the other side. Strictly is becoming more and more popular each year.
Simon’s attempt to shake it up a bit failed miserably in my eyes.
Strictly is absolutely fab-ul-os, wish it was on all year round, can’t get enough of it !
