Simon Cowell Outbids The BBC For Grease
The BBC are running a ‘How Do You Solve A problem Like Maria’ style competition in the States this year, but based on the stage show of Grease instead.
However, when it came to moving the reality show to Britain, Mr Simon Cowell, stuck his finger in yet another pie, and outbid the BBC.
Simon Cowell has bought the rights to “Grease” and now plans a reality series based on finding leads for a new stage production, which will air on ITV.
“As with anything you want to buy, you have got to pay a lot of money. These things don’t come cheap and rightly so,” Cowell said of his purchase. “I think it’s good the BBC haven’t got it so it isn’t coming out of license fee payers’ pockets. I think we have done a great service.”
The creator of “American Idol,” who also recently signed onto the ITV series “X-Factor” for another three years, said taking the musical search to television will be a perfect fit.
“It will work beautifully for us as a reality show,” he told the paper. “There will be a lot of twists.”
