Simon Cowell planning X Factor movie?! And Caroline Flack backs Olly Murs for judging role!
There seems to be no end to Simon Cowell’s ambition, because in addition to his plethora of tried and tested – and hit – shows, such as X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, he’s forever thinking up new ways to make a buck…
We recently reported that he’s working on a new game show, that he no doubt hopes will do better than Red or Black did, and of course, this week, he proudly attended the official premiere of X Factor musical, I Can’t Sing.
However, it’s been reported today that if the musical is as big a hit as Simon hopes it is, he may consider making a movie based on The X Factor.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Cowell said, “I’d definitely be up for turning this musical into a film, if it’s a success.
“I think it would work really well onscreen.”
Simon – who as we reported earlier predicted that The Voice coach Kylie Minogue will return to the BBC show next year – added, “At the moment, I just want to get I Can’t Sing off the ground, but I can see it working as a film in the future.”
He continued, “I’ve seen the Twitter reaction to the previews and the people who’ve seen it really love it.
In other X Factor news, Xtra Factor presenter has given her backing to her former co-host Olly Murs becoming the fourth judge on this year’s show.
As fans of X Factor will of course know, Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole are all returning to the show this year, and though dozens of music VIPs have been mooted as possible contenders for the fourth judging spot, Olly has been consistently at the top of the list of favourites to land the job.
Speaking to 4Music, Caroline said, “Olly would be really good [as a judge on X Factor].
“It would be like the show would eat itself in a way, you know…
“[Olly is] someone who’s been through everything, and it shows you they can now be a judge.”
She concluded, “He would be a great judge. He works very hard.”
I’d love for Olly to get the job. Would you?
Here’s a reminder of him on the show as a contestant…
