Since The X Factor took something of a hammering in the viewer ratings this year, there has of course been much speculation that Simon Cowell will call it a day with the show after this year’s series…
And late last year, his trusty sidekick and former lover Sinitta seemed to confirm that X Factor had had its day by saying that this year’s tenth series would see the show “go out with a bang.”
However, in an interview with BBC’s Newsbeat, Simon revealed that both X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent will be on TV for “a long time to come.”
He made his remarks when asked how he intends to improve the shows – but particularly X Factor – this year.
He replied, “You’ve just got to try and make a better show than you did the year before.
“And if you do that there’s a chance you can get the numbers up.
“I never go into anything thinking the numbers are going to go down, because the first thing I say to our production team is you’ve got to make a better show than last year.”
He added of X Factor, “It will be on TV for a long time to come. Both shows will…
“But I want to get this year out of the way first before I think about anything else.”
It has of course also been reported that Simon intends to bring Sharon Osbourne back to the judging panel of X Factor this year, and that she’ll take the place of either Gary Barlow or Tulisa.
And though a report last month claimed that Tulisa had quit the show – possibly before she was fired – the lady herself says that is not the case.
We’ll find out in due course I guess! For now, here’s a reminder of Sharon on the show’s very first series…
