Simon Cowell takes tips from Surprise Surprise for new X Factor 2013 twist!
Simon Cowell previously revealed that he had a number of tricks up his sleeve to spice up the X Factor this year and one of them has just been revealed.
It’s claimed that the music mogul is taking some tips from Cilla Black’s famous series Surprise Surprise and will be asking viewers to secretly nominate their talented pals for the ITV show, without their knowledge.
The fans can send in an form, detailing why they think their friend or family member should win a place at the auditions and if the application is successful, the hopeful will be surprised at their home or place of work, when they are informed (in front of a whole team of camera crew of course) that they will be singing for Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and whatever other judges are on the panel in 2013.
A source told The Daily Star:
“It’s a new twist to freshen up the show.
“We are asking friends to nominate their pals who they believe are good enough to take part in the show but for some reason have never applied.
“It’s a fun new way to spring surprises and find singers.”
The format changed was trialled Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year and friends, families and workmates nominated their loved ones without their knowledge. However on BGT there is an added bonus, as the nominees were also in with a chance of winning a cash prize.
The person who filled in the form stood to win £10,000 if the act they discovered goes on to win Britain’s Got Talent 2013!
The only concern some fans of the ITV show have is that producers will find themselves inundated with ridiculous applications, where untalented wannabes, sometimes with a streak of crazy, will be nominated. Some Twitter users think this could lead to more joke acts and contestants winning places because of their personalities, rather than any genuine musical talent.
Last night X Factor bosses confirmed the new twist and a spokesperson said:
“It’s a new way of finding undiscovered talent.”
If you think you could be the next James Arthur, the next One Direction or even the next Wagner, then you can apply for the X Factor here.
