Max Clifford may be trying to claim that Simon Cowell is not engaged to be married, his mum seems to think otherwise.

In an interview with The Sun, Julie Cowell gushed:

“I’m so, so happy that Simon is getting married. I’m absolutely thrilled.

Simon is rumoured to have moved 36 year old Mezhgan Hussainy into his LA mansion and is even reported to have visited her parents to seek approval for their impending nuptials.

When Simon split from his ex girlfriend Terri Seymour just 18 months ago, his mum feared he would never settle down. However today she was overflowing with happiness as she told The Sun:

“I’m delighted that he’s finally settled down.

“I feel as a mother, and like all parents do, that when their sons get to a certain age, particularly 50, we want to see them settled with a good woman.

“I could never really see Simon being committed like he is now. I would never have imagined that he would get married.”

“I’m so, so happy that Simon is getting married. I’m absolutely thrilled.

“He’s very contented with her. She’s a lovely woman and I’m delighted that he’s so happy.

“I thought I would have departed from this world before Simon got married. I’m so happy he’s committed to this girl.”

She added: “I think turning 50 made him realise it was time to get married and start a family.”

“Despite his unconventional lifestyle, Simon is at his heart a traditionalist and respects the family.

“He knows there has been a lot of publicity about his plans to wed so he wanted to speak with Mezhgan’s parents.

“He plans to ask them for her hand in marriage so they can get on with planning a wedding. It’s about doing the decent thing.”
