Starboy Nathan – aka Nathan Fagan-Gayle – makes his big X Factor 2012 debut tonight – but Tulisa is a little uncomfortable (VIDEO)

Starboy Nathan may have supported JLS and N Dubz in the past but he hasn’t managed to hit the big time on his own and tonight, the singer songwriter will be seen trying his luck on The X Factor.

Unreality TV reported earlier this year that the 25 year old performer – real name Nathan Abraham Lauren Fagan-Gayle – had shown up in Manchester to perform for Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos and guest judge Mel B and that the judges raved about his performance afterwards.

The hopeful sang Marvin Gaye’s ‘Lets get it On’, and Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’. Both were stripped back and acapella and insiders told us that while the panel raved about his talent, Tulisa was uncomfortable in judging him, because she has worked with Nathan closely in the past.

Luckily for Nathan, if he has made it to bootcamp and beyond, it has been reported that Contostavlos will be mentoring the girls this year, while Nicole Scherzinger works with the boys category, so she won’t have to worry about a conflict of interests and he won’t have to fight claims of favouritism.

It’s unusual to have such an established singer trying out for the show, as Nathan has two top 40 singles – “Come into My Room” and “Diamonds” – under his belt already. His latest release is titled Hangover and features Wretch 32. It was released on 12 September 2011 and reached position 92 on the UK single’s chart. His album 3D – Dedication, Determination, Desire was released in May of this year.

As well as working with JLS and N Dubz, he has also supported The Wanted on tour and this alone has caused controversy amongst many fans of the show, who believe that Nathan has had enough chances to make it in the industry and should leave the X Factor for struggling and unknown stars.

We can tell you this though, the feedback from the audience who watched his audition was incredibly positive and maybe the X Factor needs someone as talented as Starboy.

Watch Nathan perform and tell us, do you think he deserves a second chance? Is he good enough for the live shows? Leave your comments below..

I agree that some people deserve a second chance, but it not really fair on the people who haven’t had the chance yet, and are eager to make a difference. I do believe Nathan is very talented, but don’t think he needed to enter a talent show to prove this.

    Good luck to him :)

I have seen Nathan play a number of times live, and honestly he is an amazing artist, and has the potential to go so far with singing. Nathan deserves to be on Xfactor as much as the next. Ok so hes supported bands and had some gd sigles and a great album that he has had to work so hard for to do by himself. i hope he wins or atleast for a big management company to see how good he is and grab him quick, he is honestly lovely and has so much time for his fans. People give him a chance hes a lovely lad!!
