The Voice UK: Will.i.am insists Cheryl Cole will not go back to Simon Cowell’s X Factor
Yesterday Simon Cowell admitted that he would love to have Cheryl Cole back on The X Factor and despite sacking her from his American series, he would welcome the Girls Aloud star back to his UK show with open arms.
However we hope he’s not getting his hopes up, as her manager Will.i.am has insisted that the Geordie beauty will never go back to Cowell’s empire, after he humiliated her last year.
In an interview with The Mirror, about his new BBC TV show The Voice, The Black Eyed Peas star said he is on the lookout for another show for Cheryl and explained:
“Cheryl won’t do X Factor. Why does she need it?
“Why are you going to make someone-else rich? Cheryl needs her own show.”
Will is still obviously holding a grudge against Cole’s former boss and he blasted the music mogul for dropping the only current music star with reality TV experience, he had on X Factor USA last year. He insisted that his pal was much more qualified for the role than Simon’s sidekick Paula Abdul and added:
“Cheryl Cole was current on X Factor. She was the only one on the panel with musical experience of what it feels like to go through that process.
“That’s how she made it into the industry, by doing Popstars. Paula Abdul was an artist – but she wasn’t current at the time.”
But Will won’t let Simon’s snub hurt Cheryl’s career and he has been working closely with her on her third solo album and plans for her to still be around, and current, in ten years time.
The singer said:
“The Cheryl that we know now is different from the one we’re going to know 10 years from now.
“It was 10 years ago that me and the Black Eyes Peas wrote Where is The Love?. I’m planning a future for Cheryl in that way.
“Madonna is Madonna. You don’t want Cheryl to be Madonna, you want Cheryl to be Cheryl.”
Will.i.am started auditions for The Voice in London last week, alongside his fellow judges Jessie J, Danny O’Donaghue and Tom Jones.
The series will launch on BBC One this April and will go head to head with ITV and Simon Cowell’s Britain’s Got Talent each weekend. Which will you be tuning in for? Leave your comments below.
Also tell us if you would like Simon to get his wish and for Cheryl to return to The X Factor this year.
