The Voice UK: X Factor judges called Jessica Hammond ‘average’

Jessica Hammond may have wowed the coaches on The Voice last night, however The X Factor team weren’t quite so impressed by the young singer when they heard her perform.

The 17 year old Belfast performer wowed with Jessie J’s Price Tag on the launch of The Voice last night and had all four judges fighting to land her for their their team. In the end she opted to work with Jessie, saying she was the most ‘unique’ performer on the panel.

However, she revealed that the X Factor judges weren’t quite so keen to work with her and rejected her twice when she auditioned for the ITV show.

Speaking to the Daily Star today, she admitted that she can’t believe the difference between how she was treated on the ITV show, as compared to the treatment she received on it’s BBC rival.

“The BBC were really kind and the production team were really kind and that does make a massive difference,” she insisted, adding:

“On The X Factor I had to arrive at 7am and didn’t leave until 11pm.

“I was stuck in a room all day without food or water. I was just sat around waiting all day.

“I wasn’t given a proper warm-up or the help the BBC gave me.”

Praising staff on The Voice and the difference backstage when auditioning for the series, Jes confessed that things couldn’t have been any more different.

She continued:

“On The Voice you are given all the help and encouragement to perform well.

“The judges on The X Factor said I was an average singer and my performance was just average.

“They have their opinions and I wasn’t on top form that day. But they didn’t make me want to give up.”
